Wave Phenomena in a Double Plasma Experiment
A double plasma device consists of two plasma volumes, electrically separated by a conducting grid and biased to different plasma potentials. By manipulating the potential difference, a controlled plasma flow from one volume into the other can be generated. With the help of a harmonically modulated potential difference, plasma waves can be excited. Using different modulation frequencies allows ...
متن کاملReview article: Wave analysis methods for space plasma experiment
A review of analysis methods is given on quasi-monochromatic waves, turbulent fluctuations, wave-wave and waveparticle interactions for single-spacecraft data in situ in near-Earth space and interplanetary space, in particular using magnetic field and electric field data. Energy spectra for different components of the fluctuating fields, minimum variance analysis, propagation and polarization p...
متن کاملCommissioning the Echo-Seeding Experiment ECHO-7 at SLAC∗
ECHO-7 is a proof-of-principle echo-enabled harmonic generation (EEHG) FEL experiment in the Next Linear Collider Test Accelerator (NLCTA) at SLAC. The experiment is intended to test the EEHG principle at low electron beam energy, 120 MeV, and determine the sensitivities and limitations to understand the expected performance at the higher energy scales and harmonic numbers required for xray FEL...
متن کاملPulse - Echo Shear Wave Transducer
Type and size are the most important defect characteristics that need to oe determined for reliable prediction of the remaining service lifetime of a defective structure or part. The analytical and supporting experimental results presented in this paper concern a universal ultrasonic defect-identificationand-subsequent-sizing method. The conceived satellite-pulse technique (SPT) is based on the...
متن کاملEcho in a Semi-Bounded Plasma
Plasma echo theory is revisited and reviewed to apply it to a semi-bounded plasma. Spatial echoes in a semibounded plasma are investigated by calculating the electric field produced by external charges and satisfying the boundary conditions at the interface. We show that echoes can occur at various spots. The diversity of echo occurrence spots is due to the boundary terms.
